Are you building a new electrical system? Do you have an
existing electrical system that requires study and analysis?
Either way, Industrial Electrical Engineers, Inc. can help
you with the analysis of your new or existing electrical
system.
New Systems - Interconnection Studies
New power generation projects, such as wind turbine projects,
require approval by the local electrical utility before your
generation project can be connected to the utility grid.
IEE has extensive experience working with various Midwestern
utility companies to quickly obtain interconnection approval
for generation projects. Proper navigation through this process
requires someone who can communicate effectively with the
utility engineers, and understands how your system can impact
the utility grid. Let us do your interconnection study, your
entire project, or something in between!
Existing Systems
Do you have an existing system that is in need of analysis?
Let us help you understand your electrical system! IEE has
a solid reputation for detailed and accurate electrical system
studies at commercial, industrial, and health-care facilities.
Do you have a complete and accurate diagram of your facility
electrical system? If you are considering adding new equipment,
do you know if your electrical system can accept new loads?
Do you know how the various protective devices in your system
will behave under fault or motor-starting conditions? Is
the equipment in your system properly rated to handle fault
current?
IEE can help you answer these and other important questions,
by performing one or more of the following system studies.
We apply industry standard methods and employ the best computer
software tools that are available. Your report will be written
in plain English and can be submitted to you in paper or
electronic formats.
-
One-Line diagram: A one-line diagram is a complete “road
map” of your facility electrical system. An accurate
one-line diagram is an essential tool anytime you are
responding to an electrical emergency, considering electrical
system
modifications, or studying system behavior. In short,
complete understanding of your power system behavior
begins with an
accurate one-line diagram. IEE can verify an existing
diagram, update your present diagram, or provide you
with a new one-line
diagram of your plant electrical system
- Fault and Coordination
Studies: Only a Fault & Coordination
study can determine, in advance of an outage, that your
facility is properly protected. In a properly-coordinated
system,
a fault will result in minimal outages. Proper coordination
of protective devices is a requirement of Article 110
of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Equipment Evaluation
Studies: IEE can examine expected fault currents in your
power system to determine if new or
existing equipment is properly rated for the fault conditions that
could exist in your system. Equipment that is not properly
rated is a safety hazard. Article 110 of the NEC requires
that all equipment be properly rated for the fault conditions
it could experience in your system
- Arc Flash Studies:
We can help you properly label your electrical equipment
so that your electrical safety program complies
with the latest IEEE, NPFA, and OSHA guidance and regulations.
Proper arc flash labels will serve to keep employees
and contractors safe, and are now an essential part of any modern
plant electrical safety program. Arc flash labeling is
now a requirement of the NEC
- Transient Motor Starting Analysis: Are you having
motor starting problems with your existing system? Are
you planning
to add new motor-driven equipment to your facility? Our simulation
software can solve motor-starting problems and predict
whether the starting currents of a new motor might introduce new
problems into your system
